Nzulezu Stilt Village – UNESCO Heritage Experience 🇬🇭

Nzulezu, meaning “surface of the water,” is a remarkable stilt village built entirely on stilts on the Tano River in western Ghana. This community, which may become a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has thrived for centuries in harmony with its watery surroundings. The journey to Nzulezu by traditional canoe through mangrove-lined waters offers a breathtaking prelude to the village itself.

Wli Waterfalls – West Africa’s Tallest Cascade 🇬🇭

Wli Waterfalls, locally known as Agumatsa (“Allow me to flow”), is Ghana’s and West Africa’s tallest waterfall with an impressive drop of about 80 metres. Nestled within the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary in Ghana’s Volta Region, the waterfall consists of two cascades – a gentle lower fall that plunges into a natural pool, and a more adventurous upper fall reached by a steep forest trail.

Lush rainforests, dramatic cliffs and the soothing roar of falling water create an unforgettable backdrop for hikers and nature lovers. Visitors can experience the sanctuary’s biodiversity, from colonies of fruit bats and colourful butterflies to monkeys and tropical birds, while enjoying refreshing dips, panoramic views and cultural encounters with the nearby communities.
